Acts Week 1
Acts 1: 1-14
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church communion service for Sunday 21st March 2021. Today, much like the week before it was very wet with heavy rain making getting to and from the church difficult, particularly for our elderly members. Nevertheless, there was a warm welcome inside and we enjoyed a great service.
This week we are starting a new series based on the book of Acts. In Acts 1:1-14 we read the story of the promise of the Holy Spirit, the great commission, and the ascension of Jesus. One would think that the disciples would have been focused on the promise of the Holy Spirit to empower them for their life’s mission, but sadly they were more interested in trying to get Jesus to reveal the date of His return. The modern church in some places is a bit like that. They have forgotten their mission to take the gospel to the whole world and are giving all their attention to somewhat dubious ways to hasten Christ’s return. Today let us lay that aside and focus on Jesus and the great commission, that empowered by the Spirit we will be witnesses wherever He places us.
