Philippians 2:1-12
Philippians week 3
Welcome to the Nambucca Baptist Church website for our service this Sunday 11th October 2020. Today has been a beautiful spring day and we welcomed Fay and Bob this morning as they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together. This morning I preached the third in our series on Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi. The message is based on Philippians chapter 2 verses 1-12. Again Paul is encouraging his friends in Philippi to prepare for difficult times, and also to change their lifestyles in such a way as to be a shining witness to their communities when times do get tough. Paul does not tell them that life will be a bed of roses, quite the opposite, in fact, he reminds them that he is writing to them from prison. Paul then encourages believers to follow the example of Jesus who humbled himself and submitted to a cruel death but that the end of the story is that every knee will bow to Him, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
We had a welcome to the service from Meryl who also led us in prayer. Glenys read the Bible for us and as always there is some wonderful music for you to worship with us.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
Thank you for staying with us to the end of the service. Since you did not get to enjoy the great chocolate cake that Thona baked for Fay and Bob today, I am sharing a brand new music video, ‘Promise’ from Maverick City Music that I hope to see in church soon. Enjoy.
