Week 3: Malachi

Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our worship service for Sunday 30th January 2022. Today was beautiful warm and sunny and the atmosphere in the church was rather special. It was clear from the outset that Holy Spirit and His anointing were in the room to bless and to touch lives as we gave ourselves in heartfelt worship.

The Message for Today

Today is the last in our short series on the last Old Testament Prophets, the subject of course was Malachi. After a lifetime of hearing that Malachi was all about tithing, it was pleasantly surprising to find out that we had completely missed the point of his message.

Malachi begins by saying that the burden of the Lord was upon him to declare the message from God’s heart for His people. What was it that was so important that God laid the message on his heart so heavy that he had to speak it out, to cry it out. “I have loved you,” says the Lord. That’s all it was. The cry from God’s heart for His chosen people, “I have loved you,” says the Lord. The rest of the book is a result of the people rejecting and indeed questioning that God had blessed them and loved them as a nation.

You will need to watch the sermon to find out how it all works out.

This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.

Bible reading for today is Malachi 1:1-5 NKJV
