Fourth Sunday in Advent

Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our communion service this Sunday 20th December 2020. It’s the Fourth Sunday In Advent and as Christmas day draws closer we reflect today on the gift of love that Father blessed us with, his Son, Immanuel, God is with us. It was a real joy to have so many of our church family members with us this morning. It was the largest meeting since Covid restrictions were eased.

Today we have a great service for you. Carols of course and a special treat in that we get to hear Meryl’s Christmas poem that we missed out on when the combined churches Christmas concert was cancelled. Meryl also welcomes us to the service and leads us in prayer. Fay does the bible reading and as always, David is behind the camera.

We would encourage you to prepare the communion elements at home so that you can join with us as part of our church family today. Blessings

This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.

Every year Meryl writes a Christmas poem. This is normally read or performed at the combined churches Christmas concert. Of course with Covid, we were unable to hold the concert this year, and so we got a real treat this morning, to hear the poem read for us by the author. Very special.

We hope you enjoyed this service and as a reward I have a special video clip for you. This is Lizzie Morgan from Maverick singing O Holy Night, probably my favourite carol.

Numbers 6:24-26

24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’

Amen.
