Revelation Week 3
Revelation 2:1-11 NKJV
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our service with Holy Communion this Sunday 4th July 2021. This morning we enjoyed a wonderful worship service and we would like to share it with you. If you are not able to attend a church at the moment for whatever reason please feel free to join us as we hum and pray. You of course are allowed to sing at home. You might take the opportunity to prepare your elements for communion before you start. So enjoy, as we share the word and celebrate around the Lord’s table.
Today we have reached week 3 in our series on introducing Revelation. I have selected the first two letters to the churches from Revelation 2 as our text for this morning. The church at Ephesus was a powerful and effective church. However, Jesus warns them that they are just doing church as a duty rather than out of love for Him. This is a timely warning for all of us as we work to keep our churches relevant during a global pandemic.
The believers at Smyrna were really struggling under some increasingly hostile persecution and social disapproval. Jesus lets them know that he has seen their struggles and warns them that this is going to get worse, to the point, where some of the Christians will lose their lives, for the crime of holding to the testimony of Jesus, rather than bowing to the Roman Emperor.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
