David week 7
2 Samuel 11: 1-5
Welcome to the Nambucca Baptist Church service for Sunday 21st February 2021. Today is our communion service and you are encouraged to prepare the elements yourself at home so that you can join with us as we gather at the Lord’s table this morning. We were a bit down on tech support so today we are sharing all the songs and the bible reading and sermon as well as communion.
Today we are at week 7 in our series on the life of David and we see how David abuses his position and power to abduct, and rape a woman who was already married and whose husband was out fighting in a battle that David should have been leading his troops in rather than staying in his palace. We all know that this is wrong at any time in history, let alone by a man “after God’s own heart”. David’s throne and destiny were on the line when he was confronted by the prophet Nathan who points his finger at David and famously says, “You are the Man”. It is David’s instant repentance and his admission of guilt before God as we see in Psalms 51, that saves him. Of course, he had to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
