Ruth Week 5
Ruth 4:1-22 NLT
Welcome to the Nambucca Baptist Church for our Communion Service Sunday 17th September. We had a wonderful, happy bunch of people in church this morning and we welcomed the presence of God into our midst as we prayed and worshipped in song. This being a Communion service you might wish to join with us by preparing the elements as a member of our church family. Wherever you are in the world and whenever you find this page, you are invited to immerse yourself in the service with us.
Today we finish our series on Ruth. As I was preparing this sermon, all week I was wondering why would Boaz want to marry a Moabite woman. Of all the kinsmen redeemers that there were in Bethlehem at that time, why was it Boaz who was prepared to take the risk of marrying her without the security of having his name remembered through his children by Ruth? Their obedience and faith in God secured their destiny with them both being in the royal bloodline that would produce kings David and Solomon, and of course the Lord Jesus himself.
Their children would all be counted as her deceased husband Mahlon’s children as part of the kinsman redeemer protocol. You will have to watch the video to find out.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
