A New Normal Week 4
Exodus 19 -20
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our Sunday service. It has been a glorious Spring day here at Nambucca Heads and we had a great service that we want to share with you. This week is Week 4 of our sermon series on A New Normal. We have been following the children of Israel as they leave Egypt and are faced with a series of events that challenge them to their very core. Every situation is life or death and they had to learn to trust in God’s provision in the desert where there was no way for them to provide for themselves. Today we find them at Mt. Sinai and the events around the giving of the law.
Christians however are supposed to look to the events on Mt. Calvary as the source of our salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. For some reason, many of us commute between the two and the New Testament is pretty clear that this is not an option for Christians. The theme of our service today is consecration. Just as the Israelites had to consecrate themselves at Sinai, so it also good for us as Christians to take time out for moments of consecration to our Lord Jesus Christ.
As always we have a warm welcome to church from Meryl who also leads us in prayer. If you have something that you would like us to pray for you can always contact us and we would be more than happy to pray with you and for you. Glenys is our Bible reader this morning and we have some beautiful worship music for you.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
Thank you for staying with us to the end of the service and we hope that it blessed you as much as it did us. Unfortunately, I can’t invite you down to the manse for a cuppa and a tasty snack but I hope that this little video will help ease the pain of missing out on some great home cooking. This is one of my favorite songs to play on my Cajon drum, and I would like to have included it in the service but it didn’t quite fit. Nevertheless, you get to enjoy it where we missed out.
