David Series, Week 3
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our service this Sunday 24th January 2021. It is a beautiful sunny summer’s day here and there was a feeling of joy and friendliness as we gathered together for the service this morning. I had a personal sense of the presence of the Holy Spirit to keep me calm and open to hearing from him as the meeting unfolded.
Today we continue our series on the life of David. Our reading for today follows on from David’s victory over Goliath, and we see the beginning of the jealousy and anger in Saul as he recognised that David was someone very special to God, who blessed David, with victory in everything he did. We compare and contrast the two characters. Saul as he slowly descended down towards uncontrolled rages and deep depressions, always obsessed with murdering young David. Then David himself, as he chose not to throw the spears right back at the king who had tried to kill him, but trusted in God to deliver him and keep him safe until it was time for him to fulfill his destiny as the king of Israel. Between the two of them was Jonathan, in covenant relationship with David and always the quiet voice of reason with his father. He tried to calm Saul and yet warn David when danger threatened.
We trust that you will enjoy the service as much as we did and that God will richly bless you as you join our church family in this worship service.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
We hope that you have been blessed by our service today and that you felt the presence of God, as you entered into worship and prayer with us. Unfortunately, I can’t invite you to stay for a cuppa and morning tea snacks but I do have a little treat for you. Bethel Music has just released a new video clip called ‘House of Miracles’ this is heartfelt worship expressed in song, we trust that you will enjoy it.
Blessings
