Third Sunday in Advent

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

6       For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our service this Sunday 13th December 2020. It is the third Sunday in Advent and we continue with our Advent series of sermons. Today, we are Celebrating Jesus the Prince of Peace. There is a challenge in the message,”Our trouble is that we want the Peace without the Prince. Neither men nor nations will have him rule over them, and that is the world’s danger, because that one who called himself the Way did not allow for any other way …”[1] Nevertheless, God has provided His only son to give us the victory and His peace, supernatural peace that will be with us in every tough situation we face. The sermon today is in two parts with a short video clip in between of the King’s College Cambridge choir singing “Unto us a Son is born” from Handel’s Messiah. Today was also special because today we were able to sing for the first time in months. Admittedly, we all had to wear masks but it was wonderful to hear our church family singing again.

As always we have a warm welcome to the church from Meryl who also leads us in prayer. Anne reads the scriptures for us and David is behind the camera. We have some great worship songs and we invite you to join in with us today.

This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.

Just a reminder today’s sermon is in two parts with the choir video clip in between.

We hope that you enjoyed our service today and that you were able to join us and become a part of our church family. There has been a whole lot of beautiful Christmas music released in the past couple of weeks from our favorite artists at the moment. Here is the latest from Maverick City Music. ‘O Holy Night’ was only published on Youtube yesterday and I think it is one of the best versions that I have heard for a long time. unfortunately I was unable to embed the link in the page, however if you just click on the link it will take you right there. Enjoy.
