Philippians 4:1-9 (nkjv)

Philippians Week 6

Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our service this Sunday1st November 2020. It has been a beautiful Spring day here and there was a gentle and loving presence of God in Church this morning. Today we are at week 6 in our series on Philippians and in our passage today, Paul explains how believers can maintain the peace of God, in the face of seemingly overwhelming circumstances all around us.

Paul explains that for believers to thrive in difficult circumstances we need to stick together. That we not allow personality clashes to distract us from the mission at hand, which is of course to seek and to save the lost. The keys to a healthy and joyful attitude can be found in three areas, firstly to bring our issues to God, in quiet confidence that no matter what it looks like, that God will bring us through. Secondly, that we do not dwell on the negative aspects of life, but choose to focus on the good and wholesome things. Lastly, that we will continue to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us, as we follow the example of Jesus and choose to live for Him.

We have a warm welcome to our service from Meryl who also leads us in prayer. Fay reads the scripture for us and as always we have some great worship music for you. Today is also a communion service so we encourage you to prepare the elements at home before the service so that you can join with us as we gather around the Lord’s table.

This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.

Thank you for staying with us to the end of the service. Since you did not get to enjoy the great morning tea spread today, I am sharing a brand new music video, ‘New Wine’ from Hillsong Worship. The original version has been a favourite for a couple of years now and this new version brings a fresh and beautiful crystal clear arrangement that I am sure you will enjoy.

Blessings
