Luke 2: 8-20 NLT
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our worship service for Sunday 12th December 2021. Today it was beautiful warm and sunny outside and just the same in the inside of the church today.
Today marks the 3rd Sunday in Advent and the theme of the service was Joy, based on the angels and the shepherds in Luke 2: 8-20, we read it in the NLT. We had a fun morning and I have done my best to try to recreate it here for you to enjoy with us.
Joy
Joy can be hard for many people to find, especially at Christmas time. For many of us who are grieving or lonely, ill or separated from our families, this time can be very dark for us. The good news of todays message is that God paints joy on dark or black canvasses. Just as it was pitch black that night for the shepherds, then blazing light as the Angel gives them the news of the birth of Jesus so the shepherds are filled with joy at this miraculous event. Jesus himself was born is almost complete darkness and yet there He lay in the manger, just as the angels told the shepherds. That night we see that God brought the light of the world into the world as a baby in a dark cave in Bethlehem. No matter how dark your circumstances might be, God reaches down and meets us in our darkness and gives us a miracle baby, The Light of the World.
So please join with our church family today and no matter how you are feeling right now I can promise that you will be feeling much better at the end.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
