Revelation Week 4
Revelation 4:1-11 NKJV
Welcome to Nambucca Baptist Church for our worship service this Sunday 11th July 2021. A beautiful but crisp day on the outside; inside was warm and friendly with the presence of God filling the room from the start to the end of the service. We have some great music for you today. A warm welcome from Meryl who also leads us in prayer. Vicky does a great job with the reading this morning from Revelation 4: 1-11.
I titled the message today, “A Glimpse of Heaven” because that is exactly what John gives us in this passage. After the three introductory chapters, John was invited up to visit the very throne room of God and to record what he saw there. Given the limitations of language and life experience in the first century, it is little wonder that John struggled to come up with the words to convey the awesome sights and sounds that were everywhere in that place.
As we look at each of the images that he describes we can see that they would have all been familiar to his audience of Jewish Christians in and around Ephesus. As exotic as some of the images are, they were for the most part known and understood by his readers at that time, from similar, and at times identical, images as described by Ezekiel and Isaiah centuries before. Is it any wonder then that we find ourselves repeating with the elders and the creatures, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
Please join us and be a part of our church family today as we worship and adore our Saviour King, Jesus.
This is where we would normally take up a collection but as you can see we can’t pass an offering bag around online. We have, however, provided a secure online giving facility for you. You can either use the Tithe.ly app on your smartphone or just click on the green button on the screen. We have been blessed by the way so many of you have managed to continue to give in various ways so that we can continue with the work of the Lord here in our church and beyond our walls.
